Dragonslayers was awarded SBIR Grants from the USDA to develop better, safer fire tools for all 5 federal wildfire agencies. These new tools make each fire fighter 3 times safer, 3 times more versatile, and 3 times more productive/effective on all vegetation fires, (any-where on earth). Our new tools are designed to take one primary tool head and one secondary tool head along with a universal handle into any regional fuel type. The total weight would be 8 lbs. Our tool parts are stowable in fire packs or travel bags. Mobilized fire fighters can bring their own tools on commercial airplanes; always with tools; much safer, especially around helicopters, which do not mix well with long handled, fixed tools.
Dragonslayers tools save millions in labor costs. Each fire fighter armed with better quality tools, has greater versatility & responsiveness; to quickly address all the changing chores on any fire.
A (factory direct) supply scheme, straight from Dragonslayers saves millions more in logistics by eliminating government need for GSA & DLA Warehouses & supply system with lousy tools. All the many ordeals of so many annual bids for each tool. Endless Admin, handling, shipping awkward space filling loads from manufacturers to warehouses, then re-shipping to fire caches, then re-shipping fire camps and out stations, finally, to end users. A waste of time and money to use obsolete, single function tools.
There just are not any good fire tools to be had anywhere else on earth. Dragonslayers tools are the future. Light weight, ergonomic, balanced, versatile, stowable, plus they pay for themselves and will last forever, because they are refurbishable.

DRAGONSLAYERS UNIVERSAL HANDLE: 37” long, 2 lbs., Cost $195.
Central, heart and soul of our higher technology system Made of Hickory. Large, oval, mass of wood at the flared, bell housing collar, where the Aluminum CNC fitting meets the wood; lends great shear strength, which was a common ill with the ½” thick Pulaski handle. Shock absorbing hickory is the best material for striking tool handles. The cell structure of the wood buffers shock into the user’s body, as does the rubber washer on the collar. The metal fitting is epoxied onto the wood, then a roll pin secures collar from ever sliding off the wood. The handle has large square threads and a spring-loaded locking pin, that snap-locks all tool heads onto the handle. This solid lock-up gives the tool its great responsiveness, and versatility to arm the modern fire fighter with the right tool for all the changing chores, on any given wildfire.
MAGNUM PULASKI: 3 lbs., $225.
The better Super Pulaski that advanced an Icon Western fire tool. It’s Balanced, center of mass, where handle goes. (Safer). A Traditional Pulaski is out of balance with only a 3” grub-hoe. When, attached to Universal Handle, ours weighs exactly the same as a regular Pulaski, but it’s grub-hoe is 3” wider: handle 3” longer, but feels lighter because of its balance. The head can never slip off its handle, because of its spring loaded
locking pin. It is a, “Forever Pulaski”, blades are replaceable, when they wear down. We have Shot crews with 9 blade changes, & can go another 9 or 20. You only use this Maggi-P, when a cutting tool is needed. Maggi-P, is now a secondary tool head. Axe blade exposure is less; as the, Troop Tool, now becomes the main Primary, fire tool head. The Troop Tool gets users even more upright on line scraping, and takes bent back drudgery out of mop-up operations. 2 stainless screws stored in elastic webbing of blade guard for making a emergency handle.
TROOP TOOL: 3 lbs. $225.
This is a full-sized Combi Tool. It is the perfect primary fire tool for Temperate Forests, Conifer Western or Deciduous Hardwoods in the East. There is a smooth, push button, locking mechanism, that allows the user to lock securely the choice of 3 basic blade sets. Top picture, 90 degree blade set: forms a better McLeod, line scraper. The curved blade slices ground cover at a more effective angle. Used as a fire rake in Deciduous
forests, where fire line is simply raking leaves, the high back shovel blade pulls a huge swath far better than the Council fire rake. Used in the same right angle blade set; (only having the shovel tip hit the ground), there forms the first ever, stand erect, greatest chinking, mixing, mop-up device. In its folded back, against its staff mode; it serves as the first ever safety staff. For walking fire line at night or eliminating falls on steep, slippery or bad ground. Trail the back blade against the hill to keep upright. If you slip, lean back on the handle. Back of
blade is your break mechanism. Diagonal blade set is for digging & throwing dirt, as an instant, angled fire shovel. Plus, she breaks down and folds flat in travel bag. Overhead can always have their favorite tool with them on fire assignment. The Troop Tool is the “Best”, primary fire tool for sure, because it’s so versatile. When you carry a 3 lb. Maggi, it’s a perfect set up.
TONY PAD DRAGON SWATTER TOP: $195, 3+ LBS.
Tony Pad Dragon Swatter Top is for Arctic Taiga, Tundra & tropic dry swamps. The handle shows 7' scale, the long strap Dragon Swatter is best for temperate, tough turf grasslands to plow through brush & mold in around rocks.
BONNIE HAMMER: $195, 4 lbs.
This is a Swamper’s Tool. It is a forged in America, steel hammer for driving felling wedges. it has a grub-hoe on it, so it’s user can scrape line, when not actually pulling brush, or driving felling wedges. Hot Shot crews now carry 4 chain saws. Each sawyer has a side kick, (called a swamper), who helps carrying gas and oil, and is a vital part of the saw team. This tool head must be detached from its Aluminum handle fitting after use in the field. Then dried and re-coated with a lube grease, so that it does not rust. If it is left attached to its handle and rusts; it may bind with flakes of rust and be difficult to detach. The BLM Bonneville Hot Shots out of Salt City, cut the axe blade off one of our Magnum Pulaski tool heads and welded a bar of steel to the shortened, squared off axe blade. It worked for a season or two then the striking impacts of hammering the wedges just started to cause the blade to loosen just a bit. We tried all kinds of fixes till finally they asked Dragonslayers to make a Slam Hammer out of all steel. We tried casting them then realize the cast steel blades were chipping too much, so we lucked out and found an American Forging Company to build us the right tooling, and cut a pound off its weight and although expensive it is a great tool for the wildfire industry folks. So, we gave the device a name to honor the good idea, that those Hot Shot guys came up with.
